Wednesday Devo: "This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life... and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet-a vast army." - Ezekiel 37:5, 10
Picture this: An entire valley blanketed with dry bones. Then by the Word of the God, they are pieced back together, sinews rejoined, skin reupholstered, the works. To end up a standing army.
In the context of the chapter, the bones are symbolic of several things; the tribes of Israel coming back together, the wonderful resurrection of believers, and the lifting up of the persecuted church after a time.
It serves as a great reminder to us now also, the power of God and his Word. When situations in our life feel like they are falling apart with little hope, from broken friendships to issues at work to a stressed household from busy schedules to a nation seemingly more distant from God to the loss of a loved one, we can know He is always in control. He can speak dry bones back together into spirited human beings. He can mend relationships. He can heal broken hearts. He can free the oppressed. He can defend the weak.
So do not lose heart. Seek Him earnestly through prayer and time in His Word, whatever your valley looks like.
