Wednesday Devo: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” - Hebrews 4:12
The world would have us believe the Bible is old-fashioned, out of date, and that the positions it takes are ‘on the wrong side of history’. The world could not be more wrong.
Just as Hebrews 4 states, God’s Word is(not was) living and active. We also know it is useful for many things, and God-breathed(2 Tim 3:16). Just as God is infinite, so also His words to us never expire. It addresses our culture today spot-on just as it did for people 2000 years ago. The world plays the same song, just a different verse now.
The Bible requires no updates, upgrades, replacements, or renewals. God’s Word is relevant for daily issues and situations in everyone’s life, whether you are in school, an adult working a job or raising kids, or anybody else. The Bible is all sufficient, containing no errors because it is not capable of having errors. Boom!
As Christ IS the Word himself(John 1:1), what assurance we have that He will guide us through life, the easy times and the tough!
So don’t let what the world says about Scripture keep you away from it. Be unashamed of the Gospel(Rom 1:16).
Make it a habit to get in the Word, and let the Word get into you. “How can you expect to dwell with God forever, if you so neglect and forsake him here?” - Jonathan Edwards
