Wednesday Devo: “That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” - Ephesians 3:16
So, what drives you - I mean truly drives you? Is it being popular? Having the right friends? Financial gain? Worldly success? Acquiring knowledge?
The most often overlooked of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, should be our one source of power and influence. The Spirit was promised to us by Jesus himself, dwells in us, is our helper and shows us truth(John 14:15-17, 16:13). We are to set our minds on the Spirit which is life and peace(Romans 8:6).
The mind driven by and focused on the world’s standards is hostile to God, cannot submit to God, and only leads to death(Romans 8:7). Break away!
So what do those same motivations look like when the Holy Spirit powers you? You seek Christian friends and help each other grow in faith. You seek financial gain only to be able to give more away for God, not stuff more under the mattress. You seek success and networking to enable you to reach more for Christ, in your neighborhood and beyond. You seek more knowledge of God alone and his grace for you, to strengthen your relationship with Him.
Let the Holy Spirit have its way with you. Leading you where it wills. Man makes plans in his heart, but the Lord determines his steps (Proverbs 16:9).
